Foxy to the zoo part 9
About the landscape on the Blue Road and in the Lycksele zoo.
Horses, goats, ducks, reindeer and musk ox.
2002 - 2008

In this site I will tell about the bus trip, and how the zoo looks.
This bus is going to Mo i Rana in Norway. But I will get off in Lycksele.
This road is called The Blue road. But it's also called. E12. The pictures of the landscape are taken through the window of the bus. that's why you can see some reflections. The bus goes over the bridge over the Vindel River
2006-07-25. The Vindel River.
2006-07-25. They have hay in these round plastic bags.
2006-97-25. Closer picture of the hay bags.
200607-25. Farmer landscape.
2006-07-25. The landscape by the Blue Road is beautiful.
2006-07-25. More landscape.
2006. The Blue Road has a lot of curves.

The Blue Road goes from Mo I Rana by the Atlantic Ocean through the mountains and through the inside land, and through the coast land in Sweden, by boat over the Kvarken straits (Sweden / Finland) between Umeå and Vase, to Petrozavodsk in Russian.

2002-07-18. Here I was on my way home and had a seat by the front window in the upper part of the bus. The Blue Road is following the Ume River. Here it was raining in the distance.
2002-07-18. Soon the rain was over us. But we kept dry in the bus. There were no wipers at the window in the upper part of the bus. But the driver down below of course had wipers.
2002-07-18. The rain stopped. Here we were in a village.
2008-06-25. After I came to Lycksele I had to go about 1 kilometres from the bus station to the zoo. I had to follow a road named Vilhelmina Road.  This road goes to the town Vilhelmina. (In former times it was spelled with W, but now with a V). There were nice houses and beautiful lilacs beside that road.
2008-06-25. Now I did reached the end of town and the Vilhelmina road became a country road.
The street  name plate.
2008-06-25. Now I had to go to the left. The zoo has a bear logotype. The sign says "Welcome!"
2007-08-06. There was a bear bench by the entrance. And when I paid for the zoo she got a bear stamp on my hand :-)
2008-06-25. There were rather steep roads up and down hills in the zoo. It was raining and rather cool. I almost was alone in the zoo. But later there came more people when the rain stopped
2008-06-25. This zoo is in the woods. When the weather is hot, it's cool under the trees.. Both for the people and for the animals
2008-06-25. A little shelter place.
2008-06-25. This hill down is steep. The picture does not show this correct. But on the left you can see a staircase. It's easier to go on the staircase as on the path.
2008-06-25. At the left the cage of the male bears.
2008-06-25. You can also make a trip through the zoo in a little train.
2002-07-18. The paths in the zoo has names like Predator Road, and Cloven-footed animal Road. There is also a sign to a streaming water aquarium. (Strömakvarium). You also get a map with you in the zoo.
2007-08-06. The arctic foxes are in these cages.
2007-08-06. I had lunch on a bench by the arctic fox cage.
2008-06-25. There are tubes with taps, so they can clean the cages and give the animals water. Here is looks like the tap is growing on the tree :-)
2008-06-25. Another road in the zoo. The environment in this zoo is wonderful.
2006-07-25. A part of the water stream aquarium.
2006-07-25. A salmon in the aquarium.
2008-06-25. A white horse
2008-06-25. And a black horse.

2008-06-25. A goat looking at a tourist who came with grass.
2008-06-25. The always have beautiful goats in the zoo.

2008-06-25. These are goats in the children zoo.
2008-06-25. He, he, the little white goat is standing i the food box :)
2008-06-25. Goats.

On this sign you can read what kind of animals they have for the children. Goats, sheep, hens and pigs. They also have rabbits but they were at another place. I never was to the rabbits. Now most of the tourist were gone. I just was walking there because the bus did not go yet.

2008-06-25. A special sheep named "Gutefår".
2008-06-25. On my walk back to the bus station in Lycksele, I saw a squirrel
2008-06-25. The squirrel crossed the road. Fortunately no car came.
2006-07-25. There were also ducks in the zoo.
2007-08-06. These ducks  looks so nice
2007-08-06. Another picture of the ducks.
2002-07-18. Reindeer in the zoo.
2002-07-18. A reindeer calf.
2008-06-25. There were are also moose in the zoo, but I did not have time to walk to them, it was rather far.

They had an artificial Moose near the entrance.

2002-07-18. This animal is a musk ox. It is very special and VERY dangerous. They live in the northern countries in the mountains.

This musk ox is loosing the skin on his antler.

1989. Musk ox babies.
1989. This is the female musk ox  Ida in the Lycksele zoo. Ida was very irritated because of a man of the staff was doing carpenter work on the fence. Suddenly Ida rushed to the fence. And the fence stopped her. Then she was right in front of me! After this I did call her "Mad Ida".
1989. Resting musk ox.
2002-07-18. This male musk ox is looking impressive.
2008-06-25. It was time to go back to the bus station in Lycksele. I took this picture from the other side of the gate. But you go in into the house and then go to the bus through a door.
Country road take me home.
