Foxy to the farm 2

2008-08-30

Me petting the horse Lorvtroll at the at the open air museum, Gammlia. I  also will show the farm animals from Gammlia. The pictures of Gammlia were taken when the sun was shining. (down below in this site)
2008-08-30. Back to the farm school now. The people had to take shelter for the rain. But I had my poncho that was glistening of the rain pearls. And I had one rain pearl on my chin he, he ;)
The staff took in the ponies in the stable because of the hard rain.
There were horses who should show up in this place. But these horses hurried in into the stable.
Now we were a while in the stable hoping the rain should stop. We looked how they students were learning farriery. They were not allowed yet to do this on real horses. They did it on legs of horses that did not live anymore.
Farriery. This is real hard work.
What is standing there in the rainy field?
It's a horse who did not care of the pouring rain. The horse was grazing and was not bothered of the rain.
But the horses who went in into the stable got rain coats. Now they came out but the rain was not so heavy anymore.
The third horse had no rain coat and stayed inside.
The whole area became like a big puddle. The showing place for the horses was empty.
No, not real empty. I was out in the pouring rain in my poncho.
The rain stopped a while. We hurried to the shop in the yellow house.
Ove trying to avoid the puddles.
The cows did not care about the rain. I should have liked to go closer but it was impossible to stop and look because of the rain. My shoes were not made for deep puddles and very wet grass. I had no boots that day.
A milk truck will take the milk to the diary. There they make all kind of products of the milk.
Here you can see filmjölk. We most call it for "fil". There is both neutral fil and fil with fruit. Most Swedish has it for breakfast.
Read here what filmjölk is.
The milk.
Now the creek was grey and wild.
Is this snow? Yes it is! Some of the hail was stuck on the ground!
Ove arriving to the shop. The green house is at the right.
They showed vegetables and wrote the names beside them. This was good for children to learn about the vegetables.
A wonderful flower in the greenhouse.
Ove in the greenhouse.
A palm.
Me in the greenhouse. The hood of the poncho is lying on my shoulder because it felt wet in in neck if had been lying on my back.
Plants and flowers.
Nice flowers.
This was beautiful in real.
A pepper in the greenhouse
Peppers.
A yellow pepper.
Another yellow pepper.
Wet flowers in front of the greenhouse.
Wet flowers in front of the greenhouse.
More wet flowers.
I bought soft flat bread, egg and an ostrich sausage. In Sweden the shell of the egg is most white. But sometimes you can buy egg with a brown shell.
Me holding in the ostrich sausage. I bought this hooded T-shirt in the vacation
Here you can see how the flat bread looks. It is baked on stone slab with open fire. We had slices of the ostrich sausage on the bread.
And coffee and juice to the bread. I like cranberry juice.

2008-07-12. Me and 3 Swedish yellow ducks. A sad thing happened with one of the 2 females. The male went snatching away the feathers of a female and the staff at Gammlia had to send her home to the farm.
2008-06-21. There were also mallards in the pond at Gammlia.
2008-06-21. The mountain cow. Her name is Majsan.
2008-06-21. Majsan got this calf in March 2008. Then they were of course still in the barn because that time of the year there is still snow.

2008-08-02. A piglet.

2008-08-12. They had 3 piglets. Two of these piglets escaped from the enclosure and they had a lot of problem to find and capture them. After that they got  better fence and electric fence too.

2008-07-12. The  farmer school lend some of their sheep to Gammlia.
2008-06-20. They hade white sheep with 3 black lambs. Here you only se 2 black lambs.
2008-06-20. But the third black lamb went sick and the keeper took care of it and had to send it home. The lamb died later. This was so sad. Later they send home the other sheep and lambs. They got other sheep from the farmer school but then there were no lambs.
2008-08-02. Me and the sheep.
2008-08-17.  This day they had showing how sheep dogs  are watching the sheep.
2008-08-17. Here they are shaving sheep.
2008-08-05. Me standing by Lorvtroll. Here I felt so happy.

But when the summer was over, Lorvtroll  had to go home to his own stable. I was missing him so much. But I have pictures of Lorvtroll and will always remember him.
