A day trip to Vännäsby and Baggböle

2011-06-28. Happy me by the Vindel River.
2011-06-28. Ove took me with the car to Slöjdarnas hus by the Vindel River. Slöjd  = Handicraft and in the house you could buy handicraft. Or only go and look. And you could sit in the café in the garden and look out over the river.

2011-06-28. These houses are museum houses. It are tenement soldier's cottages. A soldier  who was employed at the army could live here. Difficult to explain but here is a link about it.

2011-06-28. This stone has nothing to do with the houses. It's a lifting stone. Young strong men did lift it to show how strong they were.

Ove drove on a road through the woods. Then suddenly there run a squirrel over the road in front of the car!! Ove put on the break and this saved the squirrel. It run to the other side of the road. How I hate it when animal cross the road. :-( I was relieved that the squirrel was not hurt.

2011-06-28. We went to a mansion in the place named Baggböle.

2011-06-28. Fried salted pork and onion sauce. And a little bit salmon and pickled herring.

2011-06-28. In this room were before water power turbines. Now they put a work of art therr with a ligth on it.
2011-06-28.  The sculpture is a meditating artist. But people call him for Buddha. The name of the artist who made the sculpture is Fredrik Wretman.
2011-06-28. A bit of this part of the river is dry because the water power station made a dam. And they release a part of the water.

2011-06-28. this path goes steep down. But you can't see this on the picture.
2011-06-28. This is a warning sign. If you are on the dry rocks in the river and hear the alarm you have to run to land. Because then the  water power station is releasing more water and big waves can come and you will drown. We never use to go on the rocks. But there are people who does.
2011-06-28. This path by the river is a park named Arboretum Norr. It's a garden with trees. There are trees from all kind of countries.
