Green Foxy's summer 50
2012

The moose

This was the highlight
of my summer

2012-07-24.  We made a road trip to "Älgens hus" Means: The House of the Moose. It's a moose farm there you can look at moose who are rather tame and used to people. Here I'm petting a Moose. :-)
2012-07-24. On our road trip we passed an artwork. A church made of glass. It's standing on a swamp near the road. An artist named Kent Karlsson made it.
2012-07-24. There are different artworks near this road. The road is called. The Art Road Seven Rivers. The road goes from Holmsund by the Gulf of Bothnia to the mountains. And you pass severn river if you drive the whole road. A community who is interested of art let artists build artwork on different places by this road.
2012-07-24. We left the art road and Ove drove on a little road to the moose farm.
2012-07-24.  First we saw a slide show about moose. After that we went to the moose museum. There the owner of the moose told about  moose. This is a stuffed moose in the museum.
2012-07-24. Stuffed moose in the museum.
2012-07-24.  A stuffed moose and a stuffed bear in the museum.
2012-07-24. Antlers of moose.
2012-07-24. After that we were allowed to go in into the pasture there the moose calves were. Me petting a calf.
2012-07-24. The calf was on it's way to lay down.
2012-07-24. There is a kind of fat on the fur of the moose. When you pet it your hands will be greasy (oily)
2012-07-24.  The fat on the fur is like it is a kind of impregnation for the moose.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24. Me petting another calf.
2012-07-24. These calves were so sweet.
2012-07-24. On it's way to drink water.
2012-07-24. Drinking water
2012-07-24. Another calf drank water this way.
2012-07-24. It was so funny and we all were laughing about it.
2012-07-24. He, he, he :-)
2012-07-24. Here I'm standing and laughing because this calf was so funny.
2012-07-24. Me and a calf.
2012-07-24. Resting calf.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24.  Also this one wanted some water.
2012-07-24. Now it was time to go to the pasture with the adult moose. That's a big area. But the moose farmer called the moose and then they knew they should get food.
2012-07-24. Still there was only one moose.
2012-07-24. They got twigs. But also a kind of food in the feeding trough.
2012-07-24. Later there were 4 moose by the feeding trough.
2012-07-24. This moose was not by the trough. It was a at another place in the pasture there the farmer also put out food.
2012-07-24. Me and the moose in the background.
2012-07-24. Almost the same picture. But here you can see the head of the moose.
2012-07-24. I needed to take away the face of some people in Photo shop. Because I never can ask them if they will be on the photo
2012-07-24. Moose eating twigs.
2012-07-24. Happy me :-)
2012-07-24. Eating moose.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24.
2012-07-24. You could eat a one-pot meal of moose meat. But there were so many people queue up for the food and there were not so much tables free. And the food was expensive. So we did not eat it there. We went to a restaurant in Bjurholm instead.
2012-07-24. There we had a delicious chicken dish.
2012-07-24. We left the "Seven rivers" road and were now on the E12 that also is called "The Bleu road. Ove needed gas and found a gas station by the road. Then it did not work to put the card in the machine and he could not pay and not get gas Arch :-(

You can see another car at the left. The driver of that car neither could get gas. Fortunately we had enough gas to make it home.

2012-07-24. We got rain and we felt happy that the weather had been nice while we were on the moose farm.
2012-07-24. Ove could get gas in Umeå at the OK gas station..
2012-07-24. This gas station is also a post office and you need to pick upp a packege here if you get a package by post.
2012-07-24. I bought 3 small moose at Älgens Hus. 2 brown ones and 1 white one. I bought the grey moose in 2008 at Älgens hus.
2012-07-28. I made a dish called "Älgskavsgryta" It's with moose meet, bacon, onion, mushrooms and cream.
2012-07-28. You fry the ingredients and then mix it in a big pan. Then you get älgskavsgryta. There is no real translation in English for the word "gryta" when you mean a dish. You can call it for a one-pot meal, skillet meal or a stove top meal.

You can eat rice or potatoes to the meal. We had rice. We also had peas to the meat. And you take a little rowanberry jelly from a jar to the meat. The food was delicious.

2012-07-24. I was so happy that Ove took this picture of me petting the moose. This is for me a wonderful memory :-)
