Beige Foxy and the moose. Other moose pictures

2008-07-16. Me in my beige Fjällräven jacket petting a moose calve.
2008-07-16. We visited the moose farm. Here I'm petting a little moose calve. They allowed people to go inside the pasture and pet the calves.
2008-07-16. Me and a moose calf in the background.
2008-07-16. The children liked it to pet the small calves.
2008-07-16. These Moose calves were sleeping.
2008-07-16. These moose calves were eating.
2008-07-08. This was a bigger calf who was walking around in the pasture.
2008-07-08. They had the adult moose in another pasture. The owner called them and then they got food. And the tourists could go in there and look at them and pet them.
2008-07-16. Here I'm petting an adult moose. But the moose was most eating. Moose are not like tame animals. They don't give response to visitors like a horse should have done.
2008-07-16. The moose farmer let a child sit on the moose while the moose was standing still. But they did not let the moose walk with the child.
2008-07-16. Another adult moose. The moose farmer told not to go near this one. This moose was not so used to people as the others.
2008-07-16.
Adult moose are big animals.

Many years ago we were hiking in the woods. We drank coffee while sitting on a travelling rug near the path. Then 3 moose rushed over the path about 5 meter from us and dissapeard in the woods at the other side of the path. It was so exciting to see them in real wild.

2008-07-16. Another moose was eating.
2008-07-16. Another picture of a child sitting on the moose. They need a moose who allows children to sit on it's back. Not all moose will do this.
2008-07-16. The moose got apples as a treat. They love apples.

Other pictures about moose

It's dangerous when moose cross the road. Here a picture I took from the car on the E4. At the right: A moose warning sign and the moose fence.
1980-05-26. I have seen moose on the road. This was on the E4. We were with the car on our way home from Ove's parents. It was in early in twilight. Then a moose crossed the road. Fortunately behind our car. The car behind us was fortunately far away from the moose.

It's a bad picture, I had to do a kind of fast shot with my old Pentax camera. At the right you can see the moose coming on the road.

1980-05-26. Here you can se the moose at the left, disappearing in the woods. Ove switched on his warning blinker to tell the car driver behind him to watch out. Very often there can come another moose following the first one.
Many years ago, it was Christmas Eve, we went by car to Ove’s parents. Then we saw these two moose near the road E4.

Another year, that was Christmas Eve too, we went by car up north to Ove’s sister. It was ten o’clock in the morning and we passed a village. Suddenly a moose crossed the road. It came from one of the gardens over the high piles of snow.

Fortunately Ove was driving slowly, because of we were in a village. And Ove could put on the brake in time. The moose was only one meter in front of our car! Ove stopped the car and was waiting because there was another moose following the first one. That moose crossed the road in front of our car, too and moved to a garden at the other side of the road.

In the year 1984 there were 2 moose in the Gammlia woods near our home. I found their faeces in the woods.

One winter they were on the edge of these woods and were eating from the gardens. We had before a little post office in our street. When the woman who worked there walked to work she met the 2 moose in a side street of our street. Then the moose put it's ears backward. Then you shall not go near because it means the moose is aggravated. The woman could not walk that street to her work.

Later I found moose faecas beside the front door of our house. So they have been in our street too. The police had to take away the moose away from our district because they were not afraid for people and became dangerous.
Moose mother with calves at Skansen, Stockholm. , Stockholm. A friend of mine took the picture.
In the year 2000 I took this picture of a moose calves at Skansen, Stockholm.
2008-07-17. I bought this moose made of reflecting fabrics at the moose farm. He, he, this is a hooded moose, he has a hooded T-shirt. :-)

I bought these moose souvenirs here in town. A tea towel, a dish towel and magnets. And the little reflector moose that I bought at the moose farm.

People who lives in other countries like to buy moose souvenirs. I was born in Holland and think it's exciting with moose. And I ike moose souvenirs too.

2012-05-10. Ove was on a trip to Älgens Hus (The House of the Moose) with a group. I was not with them. Ove took good picture thaw I may show here.

It was spring but the grass was not green yet and there were still spots of snow on the ground.
2012-05-10.  The people had to watch out for the bigger calves. They could run into you. That time the new small calves were not born yet.
2012-05-10. There were not as much people as when I visited Älgens Hus in July. Only this group was there. That's why it was easier to take pictures of the moose.
2012-05-10. The owner of the moos gave them a treat.
